Riverside, Mo. – More has been learned about the man who was shot to death by police yesterday afternoon in north suburban Riverside. The man killed in a wooded area near Vivion Road and Gateway Drive is identified as Mahir Al-Hakim of Gladstone.

Riverside Police Sergeant Dennis Jones said family members described the 29 year old Al-Hakim as depressive.

According to police accounts, Al-Hakim had been visiting a friend in Riverside yesterday afternoon, had been asked to leave and refused. Police were called and Al-Hakim ran into woods with a gun. Officers from at least three other departments answered a call for assistance.

Al-Hakim was killed when police say he made a threatening move and numerous shots were fired at him. Kansas City Police are conducting the investigation for Riverside.
