Four black men have filed a federal lawsuit seeking $20 million because of Kansas City's Power & Light District's dress code.
The lawsuit was filed against the Cordish Companies, an affiliated company and Maker's Mark on behalf of the men subjected to the downtown entertainment district's dress code enforcement.
The four men went to the district in August 2009 in clothing they say didn't violate the dress code, according to The Kansas City Star. The petition says they were denied entry into the Maker's Mark bar because a security agent said one man's shirt was two long and two others were wearing baggy clothes.
The men say white patrons wore similar clothing but not denied entry or asked to leave.
