Olathe-based humanitarian relief agency Heart to Heart International intends to stay with its medical volunteers as long as they are needed in Moore, Oklahoma.
A team was heading to the EF- 5 tornado scene within hours of the devastation, according to the chief executive.
Organization founder Doctor Gary Morsch, who has Oklahoma relief agency roots was ahead of them all.
A mobile medical clinic was on the highway going South by 7 Monday evening.
Acting CEO of the NGO agency Krystal Barr said a group of volunteers was aboard and, “we had a paramedic that went down with us. And we are also contacting our network of volunteer doctors and nurses to come staff it.”
Barr said doctors from the badly damaged hospital in Moore will be able to practice at the mobile center as well as others from states that have medical license reciprocity.
And , Barr said paramedics from other places are free to treat tornado victims.
Heart to Heart clinic has set up at a church on the fringes of the tornado damaged area.
Barr said the agency will work until its volunteer medical staff is no longer needed.
