Update, 7:11 a.m., Wednesday:
Police have apprehended a man they say has been positively identified as the suspect in the assaults at a Motel 6 in the Northland. The are continuing to investigate whether there is a link between the suspect and the triple homicide in south Kansas City.
Update, 8:15 p.m.:
Police say the shooting may be related to an incident at a northland Motel 6 Tuesday afternoon. The hotel is close to where an SUV taken from the scene of the homicides earlier in the day in south Kansas City was found.
Three people were assaulted at the hotel, at 8230 NW Prairie View Road. No weapon was used in the attacks.
Witnesses described the suspect as a black male in his late 20s or early 30s who weighs about 200 pounds. At the time of the assaults at the hotel he was shirtless, in dark pants with a black cloth on his head.
All that is known about the suspect from the triple homicide is that the person was wearing a dark hoodie.
Update, 6:51 p.m.:
Kansas City police report the beige 2002 Toyota Highlander has been found. The search for the suspect in the shooting continues.

Three people are reported dead and two injured in a shooting in south Kansas City.
Officers were called to a home on Woodbridge Lane in the Woodbridge neighborhood near 129th and Wornall in the early afternoon Tuesday. One person was reportedly found dead outside and two people were injured inside.
Two additional people were found dead in another home on the same block. Other homes were searched in pursuit of the shooter, the Kansas City Star reports. All the victims were adults.
The triple homicide is the worst in the city in two and a half years, the Star reports.
Local television station KMBC reports the shooter stole a victim's beige 2002 Toyota Highlander with Missouri license plate KC5-A4X.
Police say concerned family members should go to the South Patrol Division at 9701 Marion Park Drive.
