KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The primary election to narrow the field of candidates for Kansas City Mayor is less than a month away. There are seven candidates who want to be on the general election ballot in March. Only two will succeed.
Included in KCUR's special election coverage are conversations with each candidate. We ask them to address problems of flagging financial resources and criminal violence. Each candidate was asked to pick a site for their interview.
In our second installment, KCUR's Dan Verbeck joined Kansas City native- son and former City Council Member Mike Burke at a shelter for troubled teenagers. It's located just off I-35 and Parvin Road.

Congress just eliminated federal funding for KCUR, but public radio is for the people.

Your support has always made KCUR's work possible — from reporting that keeps officials accountable, to storytelling to connects our community. Help ensure the future of local journalism.
