Photo ID Not Required To Vote In Missouri

Photo ID laws and proposals for photo ID laws are causing some confusion as election day approaches.

Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan sent e-mails and made phone calls yesterday in response to questions her office is receiving from voters wanting to know how to get photo ID that is not required in Missouri.

“The rule of the law has not changed in Missouri from past elections,” said Carhnahan.

Carnahan, the state's top election official, says although many people use a driver's license or the non-photo voter ID Missouri mails out, an ID from a college or university or a bill, bank statement or government document with the voter's name and address on it is also acceptable.

She says she doesn't want to confuse voters on the Kansas side of the state line, though. In Kansas, photo ID is now required.
