Moore Backs Health Care Reconciliation, Republicans Oppose

Topeka, Kan. – Kansas third district Representative Dennis Moore says he plans to vote in favor of the health care reconciliation bill when it comes to the floor of the House.

Moore serves on the House Budget Committee, which is charged with reviewing legislation under the rules of reconciliation. That committee has reported the so called Reconciliation Act of 2010 to the House Rules Committee with instructions. That's the last stop before a vote by the full House.

Moore supported the bill, which contains the Senate version of the health care overhaul in committee. He says he plans to do so again on the House floor.

"Congress should have done something with regard to health care 40 years ago. This is not a perfect bill by any means, but it's a very decent bill. And if we put something decent in place, we can improve it in the future," Moore says.

The three Republican members of the Kansas congressional delegation all say they plan to vote against the measure.
