Roeland Park adopts gender transition policy in contrast to Kansas' new anti-trans laws

A new Kansas law is set to take effect July 1 that ties the state’s legal definitions of male, female, man and woman to a person’s sex assigned at birth. Roeland Park's new policy specifies that city employees can use restrooms and other facilities that align with their gender identity.

Prairie Village and Roeland Park extend their mask mandates another month

The cities of Prairie Village and Roeland Park extended their current citywide mask mandate through March 16, a month after the orders' original expiration dates. The unanimous votes by both city councils on Monday come as new COVID-19 cases have dropped sharply in Johnson County.

Roeland Park Becomes Second City In Johnson County To Require Masks Indoors

The Roeland Park City Council on Monday unanimously approved an order requiring mask be worn inside all indoor public spaces citywide. The order takes effect Tuesday, Aug. 24, and will remain in effect through at least mid-October.
