BNIM Is Moving Headquarters To Crown Center

BNIM Architects will lease space on Pershing Road at Crown Center in downtown Kansas City.

BNIM Architects will remain in downtown Kansas City and lease space at Crown Center for its new headquarters, the firm announced today.

The 100-employee company is leasing about 20,000 square feet on two floors at 2460 Pershing Road.

The decision was made after an earlier $13.2 million plan to renovate an empty warehouse at 1640 Baltimore Ave. in the Crossroads Arts District was abandoned after being criticized for its proposed use of tax incentives.

“BNIM is committed to Kansas City, our city, today and in the future,” Steve McDowell, CEO, said in a statement.

“We were thoughtful about this move to Crown Center because it affords us the opportunity to demonstrate our passions for design, transforming existing buildings…right here in Kansas City, while remaining in the downtown we have always called home.

BNIM is currently located in the historic TWA Building at 1735 Baltimore. McDowell said the firm has signed a five-year lease for its new space at Crown Center and is expected to relocate by the end of this year.

“BNIM’s selection of Crown Center for its headquarters shows the firm’s commitment to being part of a vibrant and growing downtown Kansas City,” said Stacey Paine, president of Crown Center, in a statement.
