Alisha Morris (above), a theater teacher at Olathe West High School, is pictured with the database she created to track reports of COVID-19 cases among schoolchildren.

Alisha Morris spent her free time this summer tracking COVID-19 cases in schools around the country. The database she created went national.

Morris was shocked to learn that no one was tracking COVID-19 cases in schools around the country. The database she created became the basis for a new COVID-19 tracker now maintained by the National Education Association where submissions can continue to be made anonymously.
