Segment 1: Renowned historian discusses the influences that made four presidents great leaders.
When it comes down to it, 50 years of presidential scholarship has convinced Doris Kearns Goodwin that great leaders are made, not born. The Pulitzer Prize-winning author of books on former presidents Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, and Lyndon Johnson talked about the individual trajectories that brought each of them to the national crises they faced as president.
Segment 2, beginning at 24:04: "Yes, we want to have a robust downtown, but it doesn't matter if we're the 6th deadliest city in the country," says Alissia Canady.
Mayoral candidate Alissia Canady says we need to be more effective in how we deal with public health. "Hopelessness, substance abuse and mental health issues are at the core of a lot of the social ills that we're dealing with when it relates to gun violence," she told us today. Addressing the problem, she said, must begin by including, not neglecting, those who are impacted directly.
