Recent allegations across industries suggest workplace harassment isn't particular to the Kansas statehouse. "I think what we all are seeing nationwide is just that this is a deep systemic issue," says Wendy Doyle, president of the Women's Foundation.

The challenges of life in poverty are diverse, and can be hard to grasp for people who haven't lived it themselves. Today, we learn how future health care professionals are using poverty simulations to get a new perspective on what their poorest patients face daily. Then, find out how the Kansas City nonprofit Women's Foundation is helping the Kansas legislature confront what some call a culture of harassment in the capital.

As a host and contributor at KCUR, I seek to create a more informed citizenry and richer community. I want to enlighten and inspire our audience by delivering the information they need with accuracy and urgency, clarifying what’s complicated and teasing out the complexities of what seems simple. I work to craft conversations that reveal realities in our midst and model civil discourse in a divided world. Follow me on Twitter @ptsbrian or email me at brian@kcur.org.
