FOOD CRITICS REVIEWED RESTAURANTS:

Emily Farris:

Sama Zama, 425 Westport Road Enjoyed her pork ramen, but acknowledges the new restaurant still has some kinks to work out. Nicas 320, 320 SW Blvd Emily felt like ordering by flavor profiles was too much work for the visitor.

Mary Bloch:

Fo Thai, 4331 W. 119th Street, Leawood
Go at lunch if you're interested in a cheaper meal.

Grand Street Cafe, 4740 Grand Street
Great pork chops.

Rudys Tenampa Taqueria, 1611 West Port Road
Great salsas. Sad they aren't making their mole anymore. Happy to see Rudy greeting folks at the door.

Gloria Gale:

Chai Shai, 651 E 59th Street, Brookside [Great for take out!]
The vegetable samosas are fantastic. It was delicious, everything was great.

Avenue Bistro, 10681 Mission Road, Leawood

Gaby in KCMO: My favorite chinese take-out is a little place called Lao Peking at 1020 South Sterling Ave in Independence. Its a family run place where the food is always fresh and cooked to your desires.. doughnut holes for dessert are not chinese but delish too. "

Nick: "Culinaria is a husband and wife catering business in Lawrence, and they offer a Friday Night Takeout for two for $25, including dessert."

Nancy: "My favorite comfort food take out is Blue Koi. Whenever I’ve had a bad day it gets instantly better (either location)"

Ken: "Best Chinese take-out: The Rice House at 87th and Lackman in Lenexa."

Karen: "Happy Dragon at 103rd and Stateline. Love the food and service, reminds me of the old House of Toy on the Plaza."

Carol: "We love to pick up BBQ take-out from Hawg Jaw Fritz in Riverside (4403 NW Gateway Ave, Riverside, MO 64150). We can load up with REAL burnt ends, one of each side dish, and sweet potato fries with sweet dip… for less than $25! The best thing about take-out BBQ is that no one but your loved one is watching you get sauce all over your face!"

Debbie: "Red Snapper is our current favorite take-out. Food quality is always great, portions big enough to share, always delicious."

Sarah: "Elsa's Ethiopian in Old Town Overland park and Paulo & Bill's (free brownies!) are both great for take out."

Kelly: "Cupinis is a great place for takeout. Their sandwiches and pasta travel well. Salad with lemon vinaigrette is very good, and they have a big selection of desserts."

Pam in Overland Park: "The fortune wok restaurant on 135th and Nieman in Overland Park has great take-out! They have great chinese food and have a great gluten free menu too!"

LISTENER TIPS:

Esquina used to be a Mexican style restaurant but the owners, the Kraus'have changed it to a Spanish cuisine."

Sergio: "EL KORITA ON INDEPENDENCE AVE IN THE NORTH EAST ARE IN KANSAS CITY NEXT TO HARDESS HAS THE BEST BEST BEST POZOLE. THEY HAVE A RED POZOLE THAT WILL KEEP YOU COMING BACK FOR MORE."

Lu Anne: "Those Catholics looking for a place for Lent……I suggest FUD at 18th & Summit. Totally vegan. They have a killer Reuben sandwich that you would swear was corned beef and a dynomite BBQ sandwich as well."
