Rachel Maddow On The Unmooring Of American Military Power

The host of "The Rachel Maddow Show" on MSNBC has written a new book called Drift: The Unmooring of American Military Power. It's about how we've been living in a state of perpetual war, and how war has become more secretive and the public more disconnected from it.

Monday in the final portion of Up to Date, Steve Kraske talks with Maddow about her military family, how she would have enlisted herself had it not been for the U.S. then-"don't ask don't tell" policy, and what she thinks of the current state of political dialog and media coverage.

Hear More: Rachel Maddow will appear in Kansas City on Sunday April 22 at 2 p.m. at the Uptown Theater.  Each Admission Ticket includes an author-autographed hardcover of Drift: The Unmooring of American Military Power. $35 tickets are available online from Ticketmaster or directly from The Uptown Theater box office. Call 816-753-8665 for tickets or Rainy Day Books at 913 384 3126 for more information about the event.

Rachel Maddow hosts MSNBC's critically acclaimed The Rachel Maddow Show.  The most successful show launch in MSNBC history, The Rachel Maddow Show was named one of the top shows of the decade by The Washington Post in 2009.  Previously, Rachel had been an MSNBC political analyst and regular guest host for Countdown.  She first gained national prominence as a host on Air America Radio, where she worked from its inception in 2004.
