Your backyard garden can be a great place to grow vegetables, but the Drunken Botanist has something else in mind for the space.
In the second part of Wednesday's Up to Date, Amy Stewart, the self-named "Drunken Botanist," joins us to discuss how you can use herbs easily grown in a backyard garden when making fancy cocktails at home.
Amy Stewart's sixth book, The Drunken Botanist, combines her lifelong interests in botany and well-made cocktails. The book explores hundreds of plants that are fermented, distilled, macerated, infused, mixed, and otherwise made into drinks. Stewart has written for the New York Times, the Washington Post, and many other newspapers and magazines. She writes a cocktail column for the North Coast Journal, and she is the co-founder of the popular blog GardenRant. She is also a contributing editor at Fine Gardening magazine.
