NPR's David Folkenflik On Rupert Murdoch's Media Empire

Phone hacking and bribing police are just a couple of the scandals that have come to light about Rupert Murdoch’s vast media empire.

On Wednesday's Up to Date, we talk with NPR media reporter David Folkenflik about his new book on the man and his vast news domain. We talk about Murdoch’s control of American outlets such as Fox News and The Wall Street Journal and look at the ongoing legal trials of his hand-picked News of the World editors in the United Kingdom.

  • David Folkenflik is NPR's media correspondent based in New York City. His stories are broadcast on NPR's newsmagazines All Things Considered and Morning Edition. He has served as a media analyst on CNN's Reliable Sources, ABC News' Nightline, Fox News' O'Reilly Factor and MSNBC's Countdown with Keith Olbermann.

When I host Up To Date each morning at 9 a.m., my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers. My email is steve@kcur.org.
