Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland has inspired countless unique interpretations within art, literature, dance, theatre, music and film. We take a look at some local artists' versions as the story turns 150 years old.

Guests:

  • Katie Stover is a readers' service representative at the Kansas City Public Library.
  • Mitch Brian is a filmmaker, screenwriter and professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
  • Angela Hagenbach is a Kansas City jazz singer.
  • Peregrine Honig is an internationally recognized Kansas City artist.

"Jazz Alice: An Adventure in Musical Wonderland" with Angela Hagenbach will be performed at 6:30 pm Wednesday, October 28 and Monday, November 2 at the Plaza Branch, and also at 6:30 pm Tuesday, November 10 at the Pavilion at John Knox Village.

"Intimate Riot" by Peregrine Honig is on display through January 17 at the Central Branch of the Kansas City Public Library.

When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers.
