Analyzing Kansas And Missouri Primaries

Last night's primary election was an exciting one on both sides of the state line. In Kansas, losses by several conservative Republicans caused a surprising swing to center. In Missouri, a bruising primary campaign for governor ended with Eric Greitens as the Republican nominee.

Guests:

Missouri:

  • Brian Ellison is the co-host of KCUR's political podcast Statehouse Blend and anchored our Missouri election coverage last night.
  • Jason Rosenbaum is a reporter for St. Louis Public Radio and was at a victory party last night.

Kansas:

  • Amy Jeffries is Kansas elections editor for KCUR.
  • Sam Zeff is KCUR’s education reporter and co-host of Statehouse Blend.
When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers. Reach me at steve@kcur.org or on Twitter @stevekraske.
Kansas City needs journalists who show up not just on people’s worst days, but on their best ones — and the boring ones in between. I build relationships across the metro, so our newsroom can bring you critical information when times are tough, and seek out moments of joy to celebrate. Email me at lisa@kcur.org.
