Kansas City, MO – Flags flew at half staff throughout Kansas City and Missouri in honor of John Jordan Buck O'Neil over the weekend. The baseball legend was a star hitter and manager for the Kansas City Monarchs and the first African American coach in the major leagues. Buck O'Neil was remembered Saturday at the Municipal Auditorium in a public memorial service, hear some excerpts from Hall of Famers Joe Morgan, who hosted the program, Ernie Banks, film-maker Ken Burns, Missouri Congressman Emanuel Cleaver and an original composition by Danny Cox.
