St. Louis, MO – As movie stars go, the actors who played Munchkins in "The Wizard of Oz" were not all that prolific.

For many, it was their only shot in Hollywood.

But renewed interest in the movie over the past two decades has brought the few who are still alive out from the shadows for countless charity events and personal appearances.

One of them lives in the St. Louis suburb of Bel-Nor.

Michael Finocchiaro is better known as Mickey Carroll and he's just a few months away from turning 88.

KWMU's Tom Weber recently visited with him.

Congress just eliminated federal funding for KCUR, but public radio is for the people.

Your support has always made KCUR's work possible — from reporting that keeps officials accountable, to storytelling to connects our community. Help ensure the future of local journalism.
