Kansas City, MO – The Missouri secretary of state today certified two November ballot measures -- one to eliminate the $500 loss limit at casinos and another to promote better home health care.

  • Secretary of State Robin Carnahan also celebrated victory in an appeal of a ruling that changed her ballot language on a measure banning most affirmative action programs.
  • Voter turnout for the primary election has been light in most of Missouri and Kansas, but heavy in Southwestern Missouri.
  • Kansas City is joining other cities in a mayors' initiative to crack down on illegal guns and illegal use of firearms.
  • A new $35 million armory is on the drawing boards for Wyandotte County.

  • Congress just eliminated federal funding for KCUR, but public radio is for the people.
