By Steve Bell

Kansas City, MO –

  • It was still a standoff Thursday evening after an hour-and-a-half battle on the Kansas City Council floor. • Senator Sam Brownback continued his opposition to moving detainees from Guantanamo Bay to Leavenworth today, joined by the city's police chief and Congresswoman-elect Lynn Jenkins.
  • Special court-appointed investigators want to fine Missouri Governor Matt Blunt, alleging he "knowingly and purposely" violated Missouri's Sunshine law by denying access to e-mails.

  • KCUR serves the Kansas City region with breaking news and award-winning podcasts.
