It was still a standoff Thursday evening after an hour-and-a-half battle on the Kansas City Council floor. When the meeting adjourned, the council had not accepted a settlement in the Gloria Squitiro lawsuit and the mayor had not agreed to withdraw his suit over the ordinance that banned her from his office.

Senator Sam Brownback continued his opposition to moving detainees from Guantanamo Bay to Leavenworth today, joined by the city's police chief and Congresswoman-elect Lynn Jenkins.

Special court-appointed investigators want to fine Missouri Governor Matt Blunt, alleging he "knowingly and purposely" violated Missouri's Sunshine law by denying access to e-mails.
