Kansas City, MO – Kansas lawmakers return to the Statehouse. Their biggest unresolved issue is passing a budget. A coalition is renewing its call for taxes to help fill a budget shortfall.

The Missouri House is set to begin debates on the final version of the state budget.

The Lawrence school district is reconfiguring. The school board voted Monday night to shift ninth-graders from junior high schools to the city's two public high schools in the 2011 school year.
