Districts Seek To Stop Transfers From KCPS

Five Missouri school districts want a judge to block transfers of students from the Kansas City district when it loses accreditation next week. Missouri law allows children from unaccredited districts to transfer to accredited districts within the same or an adjoining county. The five neighboring districts include Blue Springs, Independence, Lee's Summit, North Kansas City and Raytown.  They filed suit late last week to bar transfers from Kansas City until questions about tuition and transportation costs are answered.  Read more in the Kansas City Star.

Lawmaker Pushes More Regulations For Economic Development

A Republican state Representative from southwest Missouri has introduced legislation he says will help prevent another Mamtek from happening in the state. Representative Tom Flanigan says making it a felony for the Department of Economic Development to issue bonds without obtaining “all necessary documentation” will prevent future questionable projects from slipping through the cracks.

Missouri Tigers Win Independence Bowl 41-24

The Missouri Tigers made their last football game as part of the Big 12 Conference a successful one, as they defeated North Carolina 41-24 in the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, Louisiana.  The Tigers end the year with an 8 and 5 record.  Next year Missouri will make its debut as the newest member of the Southeastern Conference.
