Musical Based On Spice Girls To Open In London

RENEE MONTAGNE, HOST:

And our last word in business today is a blast from the '90s.

(SOUNDBITE OF SONG, "SPICE GIRLS IF YOU WANNA BE MY LOVER")

MONTAGNE: The word is "Viva Forever." That's the name of a new musical based on songs from the Spice Girls, which, clearly, producers are hoping is what fans want - really, really want.

The five members of the British girl-power band made the announcement yesterday. The plot line isn't much of a surprise - the show is about a group of girls who become swept up in a world of fame and celebrity. It opens in London this December. The producer is the woman behind "Mamma Mia!", a hit musical that revise the music of another disbanded band.

And that's the business news on MORNING EDITION, from NPR News. I'm Renee Montagne.
