3 Reasons We're Listening To Heidi Lynne Gluck This Week

Kansas City's annual Plaza Art Fair doubles as a music festival: 55 free performances by locally based rock, R&B, country, jazz, folk, and classical musicians will take place on three stages. One of those performers is Heidi Lynne Gluck, a singer-songwriter with an indie-rock orientation.

3 reasons we're listening to Heidi Lynne Gluck this week:

1. An accordionist, bassist and drummer accompanied Gluck during her impressive show at the Tank Room earlier this month. The unusual instrumentation reflects Gluck’s willingness to break with convention.

2. In her review of Pony Show, KCUR's Monique Gabrielle Salazar suggested that the album is a “robust love letter to life, loss and grief written in spindly calligraphy.”

3. Gluck writes pop songs for adults. “I Like ‘Em Cruel,” an ode to poor romantic choices, evokes Rumours-era Fleetwood Mac:

Heidi Lynne Gluck performs on the Ink magazine stage, near the intersection of Ward Parkway Boulevard and Pennsylvania Avenue, at the Plaza Art Fair at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 25.
