The Snow Globes

The Snow Globes is a Kansas City trio of multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Lindsey Jones, guitarist/vocalist Barclay Martin and bassist Rick Willoughby. They specialize in performing traditional Christmas carols and original songs about the holiday season.

3 reasons we're listening to the Snow Globes this week:

1. The trio’s gentle folk-pop might sound insufferably precious and exasperatingly twee in July, but its approach matches the sentiment of the holiday season.

2. Snowed In, their new album, is slated for release in December.

3. Barclay Martin, the trio's most prominent member, is best known for his philanthropic endeavors.

The Snow Globes perform a free concert at 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 1 at Christ Church Anglican, 5500 W. 91st Street in Overland Park, Kansas, followed by a reception with complimentary desserts and hot chocolate. Subsequent performances are 10 a.m. Saturday, December 3, at Christ Anglican Church (children’s concert), and Friday and Saturday, December 9-10, at the Living Room (1818 McGee Street).

Bill Brownlee’s writing appears weekly in The Kansas City Star and Ink magazine. He blogs about Kansas City’s jazz scene at Plastic Sax.
