Percheron Rooftop Bar recently opened at the Crossroads Hotel.

Kansas City's food-and-drink landscape has seen a lot of activity over the past several months.

Central Standard’s food critics Mary Bloch, Jenny Vergara and Carlton Logan have this seasonal update of 18 new and noteworthy restaurants:

  1. Black Sheep + Market. Part market, part restaurant, Black Sheep is casual, with daily specials and a menu that depends on what the farmers bring in.
  2. Percheron Rooftop Bar in the Crossroads Hotel. Remy Ayesh, chef of Lazia and XR Cafe (also in the hotel) has a separate snacks and drinks menu for enjoying the amazing view from the roof.
  3. Farina. Michael Smith’s Finding Guido Italian menu has found a new home.
  4. Baramee Thai Bistro. This new restaurant features an all-female staff of cooks and servers. Love seeing the symphony of women at the woks.
  5. The Campground. Check out this place for creative cocktails and lunch, brunch and dinner by Craig Howard.
  6. Ragazza Food & Wine. It's reopened in a new location, with more seating, a larger bar and an expanded menu. Fortunately, lasagna is still one of the offerings.
  7. Pigwich. Happily ensconced now across from the City Market, Alex Pope is making delicious sandwiches using meat from Local Pig. There’s indoor and outdoor seating, beer and wine.
  8. Thou Mayest purchased Quay Coffee and plans to open Thee Outpost a block from the original Crossroads location in Collective EX space at 517 East 18th St.
  9. Benihana and RA Sushi are now open inside of the Sprint Center.
  10. Brick + Mortar plans to open in early June in the former Tanner’s location in Waldo. It’s owned by a new restaurant group from California that also purchased Chappell’s in North Kansas City.
  11. Strang Hall, a new food hall, plans to open in November in downtown Overland Park.
  12. Engineered Edibles Catering Co. A catering company has opened in downtown Overland Park with a fabulous Saturday morning breakfast buffet in its retail space, called The Table.
  13. The Wooden Spoon, at College and Quivira, plans to open a second, bigger breakfast and lunch spot on Indian Creek Parkway across from Brubeck’s Barbeque.
  14. Soiree New Orleans Bistro is in Smithville, Missouri, but Chef Anita Moore opened Soiree Steak & Oyster House in the Jazz District just this month, with a menu featuring steak as well as seafood.
  15. The Littlest Bake Shop is opening at 59and and Holmes, in the spot where Pirate’s Bone was located. Meanwhile Pirate's Bone, serving fresh-baked gluten-free and vegan goodies, will reappear at 2000 Main Street, the former location of Brioche.
  16. Silo Modern Farmhouse, is a favorite of Kansas City Eats, especially chef Laura Favela's whipped goat cheese spread, a buttermilk fried chicken salad and a 32-layer chocolate cake.
  17. Hayward’s Pit Bar B Que is closing its Lenexa location and will open at 10901 West 75th Street in Shawnee.
  18. McGonigle’s is opening McGonigle’s Café sometime this summer in the old Eden Alley spot below Unity Temple on the Plaza.

Editor's note: This post has been updated to include the name and address of Thou Mayest's next location.
