President Obama will visit the University of Kansas on Friday, the university said in a statement.

The White House has yet to announce details of the event and it's not yet known if it will be open to the public.

“We are honored to welcome President Obama to the University of Kansas,” said Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little in the statement posted to the University of Kansas website. “We are delighted for the opportunity to visit with him about our mission of educating leaders, building healthy communities and making discoveries that change the world."

Obama last visited Kansas in December 2011, when he delivered an address on the economy in Osawatomie.
