Seg. 1: 2nd District Council Debate | Seg. 2: Reinvestigating Clutter Murders

Segment 1: Councilman Dan Fowler and his challenger Kevin McEvoy talk plans for one of Kansas City's two Northland council districts.

Before the June 18 municipal election, we asked the 2nd District candidates about funding for the new KCI terminal, violent crime and why each would be the best fit for a seat on the council.

Segment 2, beginning at 26:57: Gary McAvoy discusses his research into the Kansas murders that inspired Truman Captote's "In Cold Blood."

We learned the story and evidence uncovered in seven years of research into the 1959 Clutter family murders in Holcomb, Kansas, and how state authorities pushed back in court when Gary McAvoy attempted to dig deeper.

When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers.
