Seg. 1: 5th District Council Debate | Seg. 2: Negotiating Pay For Women

Segment 1: Ryana Parks-Shaw and Edward Bell II discuss their plans to take over Kansas City's 5th District Council seat.

Continuing our Kansas City Council debate series, the 5th District candidates discussed new policing strategies, the addition of pocket parks and how to minimize violent crime.

Segment 2, beginning at 24:54: Tips for salary negotiation and why women don't have as much success as men asking for a raise.

Women aren't receiving the same raises their male colleagues are getting, even though they are asking for them at similar rates. We asked for advice on how women can effectively negotiate for a higher salary and how to prepare for those conversations.

When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers.
