Segment 1: Creating a winning bid for major events

The U.S. Gymnastics Championship this weekend and the NFL Draft in 2023— what do they have in common? They will both take place in Kansas City, Missouri. Visit KC and the Kansas City Sports Commission played roles in bringing these events to town. The CEOs of both explained a process that can take years and described what they think makes the metro appealing to those looking for a host city.

  • Kathy Nelson, president and CEO, Kansas City Sports Commission
  • Jason Fulvi, president and CEO, Visit KC

Segment 2, beginning at 24:24: Signs of demetia and Alzheimer's

Steve Kraske is always wondering why he has a hard time remembering some things and until today worried it might be a sign of something worse. Turns out it's not dementia, but the forgefulness that is normal in aging adults. When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers.
