Cyndy Price, President, Kansas City Rose Society

Rose Day, 1-5 p.m. Sunday, June 3 at the Laura Conyers Smith Municipal Rose Garden, Loose Park, 5200 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, Missouri 64112.

Segment 3, beginning at 25:17: The billboards on Wornall — and the characters on them.

Wornall Road is one the main arteries in Kansas City. It's also plastered with billboards, many of which are for small, locally owned businesses. Meet some of the characters who regularly appear in these billboards.

People don't make cameos in news stories; the human story is the story, with characters affected by news events, not defined by them. As a columnist and podcaster, I want to acknowledge what it feels like to live through this time in Kansas City, one vantage point at a time. Together, these weekly vignettes form a collage of daily life in Kansas City as it changes in some ways, and stubbornly resists change in others.
