Missouri Primary Challenge: Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder v. Sen. Brad Lager

File Photo

It's a primary race that doesn't receive as much attention as its candidates would like: Missouri Lieutenant Governor.

But it's an interesting one: the incumbent, Peter Kinder, is being challenged by no fewer than three fellow Republicans.

In the first half of Monday's Up to Date, Steve Kraske talks with two of the leading candidates for the post: two-term incumbent Peter Kinder from Cape Girardeau and two-term State Sen. Brad Lager from northwest Missouri.

Kinder, a former president pro-tem of the Missouri Senate, insists he's earned a third term. Lager, a former member of the Missouri House of Representatives, says it's time for new leadership.

Charles Kullmann of St. Louis and Mike Carter of St. Charles are also challenging Kinder. The winner of the August 7 primary will face one of eight Democrats and candidates from the Libertarian and Constitution Parties.
