Shakespeare's 'First Folio' Makes KC Debut

Luke X. Martin / KCUR 89.3

It may look like just another hefty tome, but Shakespeare's First Folio is a big deal. Up To Date hit the road for a live, first-hand look at one of the most valuable, and rare, literary documents in the English language.

Guests:

  • Jonathan P. Lamb is an assistant professor of English at the University of Kansas, whose primary field of study is Shakespeare.
  • Alyson Germinder is a festival associate and dramaturg for the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival.
  • Danica Otten is a docent for the Kansas City Public Library's First Folio exhibit.
  • Anne Ducey is the Kansas City Public Library's exhibit director.

William Shakespeare's 'First Folio' will be on display at the Central Library until June 28. For more information, visit the Kansas City Public Library's website.

When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers. Reach me at steve@kcur.org or on Twitter @stevekraske.
As culture editor, I oversee KCUR’s coverage of race, culture, the arts, food and sports. I work with reporters to make sure our stories reflect the fullest view of the place we call home, so listeners and readers feel primed to explore the places, projects and people who make up a vibrant Kansas City.
