Seg. 1: Freshman State Lawmakers | Seg. 2: Running With Peter Sagal (R)

Segment 1: Newest Kansas and Missouri lawmakers express frustration with statehouse power structures.

First-term Kansas and Missouri House representatives detailed the challenges they faced as members of the minority party in their respective chambers.

Segment 2, beginning at 22:30: NPR host writes book that begins with the Boston Marathon bombing.

Peter Sagal is known for being the host of NPR's "Wait, Wait... Don't Tell Me!" but he's also an avid runner. In this encore broadcast Sagal revealed how qualities he couldn’t seem to apply in his personal life became imbedded through long-distance running.

When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers.
