PHOTOS: At Folk Alliance, Kansas City Musicians Represent

Dozens of Kansas City bands performed at Folk Alliance International's 27th annual music conference and Winter Music Camp, Feb. 18-22 at Crown Center. Local musicians were among the thousands of musicians, concert promoters, industry representatives, folk DJs, and other supporters occupying the convention hotels for what Folk Alliance called "Planet Folk."

Musicians jammed in the Westin's lobby and hallways, warmed up in the link between the Westin and Sheraton hotels before their performances, and played official concerts for packed ballrooms and intimate showcases in rooms on the 5th, 6th and 7th floors of the Westin.

A group of musicians calling themselves the Kansas City Music Collective presented a roster of local talent in three hotels rooms, one on each floor. The slideshow above captures a bit of their spirit.
