Missouri Now Taking Medicaid Applications Online
Kansas City, MO – For the first time, applications for Missouri's Medicaid program, otherwise known as Missouri Health Net, can be submitted online (http://www.dss.mo.gov/mhk/appl.htm). The project took the state about 5 months to complete and cost about half a million dollars. Missouri Department of Social Services Spokesman, Brian Hauswirth, says the electronic option will make the application process more efficient.
Hauswirth: It's going to be convenient for applicants and it's going to be convenient for our staff across the state as well in terms of completing applications and processing work as well.
Hauswirth also says those who apply online are notified about their eligibility within thirty days. But, he says, required documents like proof of income and birth certificates must be submitted in person or by mail.
Funding for health care coverage on KCUR has been provided by the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City.
