Seg. 1: Women Push For Political Parity. Seg. 2: Kansas Holiday Dinner Program Expects Big Turnout.

Dec 20, 2018

Segment 1: Women have made strides as candidates, but are still looking to break through as campaign managers and advisors.

Some have called 2018 another "Year of the Woman" in politics — but not everyone. A record number of women were elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, but many had to fight to be taken seriously as candidates. Today we discussed the accomplishments and future goals for women in politics.

Segment 2, beginning at 25:08: United Prayer Movement expects to feed more than 1,000 people throughout the holidays.

For nearly 50 years a group of community leaders, from different denominations and faiths, have come together to feed greater Kansas City's less fortunate. This year the group, which always welcomes volunteers looking to lend a hand, served more folks than ever on Thanksgiving, and Christmas is likely to be more of the same. Today we learned about the process of preparing and packaging all those meals.
