It’s not just about being in the playoffs anymore. It’s for the whole shebang.
The Kansas City Royals defeated the Baltimore Orioles, 2-1, Tuesday night to close within one victory from reaching the World Series.
The Royals are making the most of their first trip to the playoffs since winning the World Series in 1985 - and no one expected this.
The Royals needed a late-season push to make the playoffs. Now, including the regular season finale, the Royals have won eight games in a row. And if they win their ninth straight against the Orioles Wednesday afternoon, the Royals are going to the World Series.
For being so close, Tuesday night’s winning pitcher Jason Frasor said the team is keeping its emotion in check.
“You know it’s not over, obviously, but if we can close this baby out here at home that’d be great,” said Frasor. “We still have work to do though.”
Only once in the history of the League Championship Series has a team been down three games to none and won the best-of-seven Series. Game time Wednesnday is 3:07 p.m.
