From super-powered heroes to exaggerated political cartoons, comic books have reflected a fantastical view of society for over a hundred years. And the art form has generated generations of fans. Learn about the local community of comic book stores.

The new book "Power Up: Leadership, Character and Conflict Beyond the Superhero Multiverse" uses the stories of superheroes to reveal lessons that can be applied to our everyday lives. The book was co-created and co-edited by Kansas City entertainment journalist Jon Niccum.

The result is "All of the Marvels: A Journey to the Ends of the Biggest Story Ever Told," a guide into the Marvel universe.
