Bill Anderson, programming director: "Nether Lands" by Dan Fogelberg

It was the late 70’s and I was living high in the Rocky Mountains when I first heard this song, Nether Lands by Dan Fogelberg.  “…I want a lover, I want some friends. And I want to live in the sun.  And I want to do all the things that I never have done.”   It was so emotional and so powerfully sung by Dan. Tore me apart and became my love song for life and an inspiration for pursuing my dream. For further inspiration I made a road trip to Nederland, Colorado where it was recorded. Bill Withers’ ‘Lovely Day’, however, is probably my all-time favorite love song. It has lyrical grit in that it acknowledges the tough realities and imperfections of life. But he rises above the fray with a single look at the woman he loves. “…Just one look at you and I know it’s gonna’ be a lovely day.” And his rhythm, pace and soulful voice create a space and I’m there. The song is simple but the instrumentation and vocals come together to build a powerful, touching, emotional song.

Donna Vestal, Harvest Public Media: "Sea of Love," by the Honeydrippers

Why? Old-fashioned (heart-stirring) strings intro … then the opening line: “Do you remember when we met…” because we DO remember.

Jill Jordan, announcer: “Love Me Like a Man” by Chris Smither, as adapted and sung by Bonnie Raitt

My hubby, Steve, sends in Anita Baker’s “Sweet Love” and Sade’s “Your Love is King”

Kim Noble, announcer: "River of Time" by Van Morrison
