KD Academy at 2141 Prospect Avenue is bringing needed services for working parents in underserved communities.

The 14,000 square foot, early education facility has capacity for up to 430 children and 65 employees.

Myron and Penny McCant founded KD Academy in the urban core on the belief that all families deserve a home-away-from-home experience rooted in educational achievement and development of well-rounded social skills.

When asked how important a place like this is, especially to undeserved communities, Myron McCant replied, "It's extremely essential. We find these folks are the ones that are the real foot soldiers in the workforce. So we understand that they have unorthodox hours, so it was something that had to be done."

McCant also pointed out the advantage for area employers having a hard time hiring "because the employees don't have anywhere for their children to go." KD Academy invited business owners to visit the new space "to let them know there's a solution to the problem."
