Seg. 1: 3rd District Council Debate | Seg. 2: Should 16-Year-Olds Vote?

Segment 1: Candidates for the Kansas City's 3rd District debate for Councilman Jermaine Reed's seat.

We asked candidates Melissa Robinson and Joey Thomas their thoughts on affordable housing, development east of Troost and how to improve community policing.

Segment 2, beginning at 22:30: The push to lower the voting age is getting new momentum.

We spoke with political science professor Greg Vonnahme and National Youth Rights Association President Brain Conner about the plausability of lowering the voting age to 16, and why people and politics might be pushing against it.

When I host Up To Date each morning at 9, my aim is to engage the community in conversations about the Kansas City area’s challenges, hopes and opportunities. I try to ask the questions that listeners want answered about the day’s most pressing issues and provide a place for residents to engage directly with newsmakers.
