Cedar Fair — the parent company of Worlds of Fun in Kansas City — and Six Flags plan a merger that will unite 27 amusement parks and 15 water parks across the United States.

The Osage Beach Board of Aldermen has approved a redevelopment plan for the lakefront project near the Grand Glaize Bridge. Plans for the 25-acre property include restaurants, a Ferris wheel, a waterpark with a retractable roof and a 400-room Marriott hotel.

Just days into their 50th anniversary season, Worlds of Fun announced it will require any guest who is 15 years old and younger to be accompanied by an adult chaperone after 4 p.m. More than 150 unaccompanied teens were kicked out of the park because of a fight on opening day.

The new-and-improved ride will feature speeds up to 45 mph, a free-fall after a signature spiral ascent, and tight turns whipping in and out of the trees.
