Other legislation that could be considered in the last week of the 2026 session includes a wide-reaching education bill and measures to limit vehicle inspections and raise the rural highway speed limit.

The Missouri House unanimously approved the registration legislation Monday for vehicles less than six years old. Currently, state law requires motorists to renew their registration every one or two years.

Legislation passed by the Missouri House on Monday would remove the requirement for noncommercial vehicles over 10 years old or with more than 150,000 miles to have an inspection every two years.

The new requirements won't affect Missouri drivers until a new system from the Department of Revenue is put in place.

Many of Kansas City's four-lane roads are too fast and too empty. The city plans to slim down many of its most dangerous stretches, like Troost Avenue, 39th Street and Independence Avenue, to curb vehicle and pedestrian accidents.
