"I'm absolutely convinced that the construction of the highway to tyranny began last January 6th," Congressman Emanuel Cleaver said of the day of the insurrection.

Congressman says former President Trump bears the majority of the blame for the insurrection.

Congressman Emanuel Cleaver recalls fear turning to anger while he sheltered in place as a mob protesting the results of the 2020 presidential election breached the U.S. Capitol.

Rep. Cleaver expressed his concern for America's democratic system of government, and discussed expected recommendations by the January 6 Committee, which could include a change in the length of time between election and inauguration and the ability to call up the National Guard.
