200 years of solo artistry: Music by Vivaldi, Haydn, Ravel and Mozart
Join co-hosts Michael Stern and Dan Margolies as they trace two centuries of concertos and orchestral works that feature a soloist. Enjoy two double concertos from Antonio Vivaldi that showcase Kansas City Symphony members as soloists, a beautiful and devilish violin feature from Maurice Ravel, and Mozart's sublime "Piano Concerto No. 24." We'll hear Alberto Ginastera's ebullient "Four Dances from Estancia," Johannes Brahms' beloved violin concerto featuring Midori, and a recent performance of Sergei Prokofiev's Symphony No. 5 with guest conductor Eduardo Strausser.

This week, hear three masterful concertos interpreted by three masters on their instruments. Emanuel Ax plays Beethoven's "Concerto for Piano No. 5," Vadim Gluzman rips through Sergei Prokofiev's "Concerto No. 2 for Violin," and Behzod Abduraimov tackles Prokofiev's demanding "Concerto No. 2 for Piano and Orchestra." Co-hosts Michael Stern and Dan Margolies offer behind-the-scenes insight and context.

This week, we begin a month long birthday celebration of Peter Tchaikovsky. A celebration of George Walker and Robert Schumann
This week, co-hosts Michael Stern and Dan Margolies celebrate the birthdays of Robert Schumann and George Walker. We'll hear Walker's "Lyric for Strings:" a moving tribute to his mother, who had been enslaved.
